This website will still be open, but I will use Hapara workspace to give students the sight words, vocabulary words, sounds that we are learning at school. I will also place reading texts we are doing in class as well as links to find other French reading material.
Have your child look regularly in their workspace "français avec Mme Manon" to continue their French and Social Studies learning at home.
Oct.13-16
This week,
1. we will complete activities about "l'automne" (Fall).
2. we will review the sight words from the past 3 weeks.
4. we will continue learning fall vocabulary.
5. we will focus on the sound é, er, ez.
6. we will continue our unit on globe and mapping.
7. You will also find some activities we do in class on the student Hapara workspace during the week. The activities are some of the learning your child is exposed to and complete during the week.
Oct. 5 to 9
1. This week, we are going to finish our activity “Je me présente” and the students will have the chance to share their work with the class.
2. The students will complete different activities about Thanksgiving - l'Action de grâce.
* Reading: pronunciation, fluency, developing knowledge of vocabulary and making connections.
* Writing: simple sentences.
3. Fall vocabulary will be introduced.
4. New sight words posted.
5. You will also find some activities we do in class on the student Hapara workspace during the week. The activities are some of the learning your child is exposed to and complete during the week.
Sept.28 to Oct. 2
1. Students will continue to explore listening strategies and learning school vocabulary words. They will complete a written and oral activity to present themself.
2. Students will begin social studies this week. We will review and learn new concepts about the globe and maps.
3. You will find the sight words students are going to practice this week in the section “Sight words”.
4. You will find the vocabulary students learned so far and the new one for this week in the section MORE-vocabulary.
Week of Sept.21-25
1. The students will be exposed to the Franco Ontarienne culture. We will listen to Franco Ontarien singers and complete some activities. Friday, the 25th, is “La journée des Franco Ontariens”. We are going to celebrate by wearing green and white and the students will make their own Franco Ontarien flag.
2. We will also begin to discuss the story of Terry Fox and his “Marathon of Hope”.
3. You will find the sight words students are going to practice this week in the section “Sight words” as well as some videos students have been watching in the section “Online links”.
4. Students will review school theme vocabulary words, continue learning about different listening strategies to understand short spoken texts in French, listen to stories read to them and begin to practice writing simple sentences.
